Chris Brown locks down his Instagram, saying it takes away his specialness
Chris Brown has locked down his Instagram account after a painting he made—in which he compared himself to a crucified Jesus—drew the latest round of ire. The painting, posted after his fight with Frank Ocean, featured not one but three cartoonish Jesuses, along with the caption, “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!” You know, because Chris Brown is like Jesus in that he’s so persecuted by the masses, and someday he will come again to judge the living and the dead like we all judged him. Or something.
Yesterday, after fans and (mostly) non-fans raised a fuss, Brown made his account private, saying that he was detaching himself from Instagram because “social media takes away from the essence of why we are even special or icons.” You know, because Chris Brown is a special icon who deserves to remain mysterious, and not be second-guessed every time he does something ridiculous and offensive in public.
It’s a good bet that Brown's social media exile won’t last, considering that he’s pulled this twice before: Once in 2009, after he expressed anger over Walmart not carrying his record, and then again last November, following a public feud with Twitter personality Jenny Johnson. The latter only lasted about a week before Brown came back, saying it was “time to start fresh. #newchapter”
