Chris Cornell, The Avett Brothers, and Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold to cover Pearl Jam for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
Late Night With Jimmy Fallon will celebrate the music of Pearl Jam the week of Oct. 21-25. While the Seattle band will perform Thursday, Oct. 24 and Friday, Oct. 25 on the show—its only TV performances around new album Lightning Bolt—the other days will feature acts covering classic PJ cuts.
Monday, Oct. 21, the show will welcome Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who’ll play “Footsteps” with The Avett Brothers. Cornell previously played on the instrumental version of the song, then titled “Times Of Trouble,” on 1991’s self-titled Temple Of The Dog record. Judging by Late Night music booker Jonathan Cohen’s Instagram feed, the performance was pre-taped, so let’s just assume it went well.
Tuesday night, Oct. 22, Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold will play “Corduroy,” marking the first time he’s played on TV in nearly two years. He’ll be backed by special, as yet unnamed guests.
Wednesday, Oct. 23, Pearl Jam goes a little country as Dierks Bentley teams up with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and Late Night house band The Roots to play a song to be determined. The show promises it’ll be a one-of-a-kind performance, and given the musicians, that’s probably no exaggeration.
Lightning Bolt is out Oct. 15.
