Chris D'Elia to really stretch as an actor by playing a comic in season 2 of You

[The following contains spoilers for season one of You.]

Lifetime’s stalker comedy-drama You found an unexpected second life after it was added to Netflix, where it became a giant hit and prompted a bunch of confused viewers to go, “Wait, am I rooting for the stalker?” And unlike its protagonist, the series presumably welcomed the attention.

Now, after the second season of the show decided to bypass Lifetime entirely and just go straight to the streaming service, it’s started revealing more details about the newest adventures of everyone’s favorite murderer, Penn Badgley’s bookstore manager Joe. Where season one was based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel of the same name, season two will be based on Hidden Bodies, the second book in the series. Joe will travel to Los Angeles, where he becomes attracted to Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), a wannabe chef who shuns social media, presumably making his stalking job a lot harder.

Joining the cast for this new installment will be comedian Chris D’Elia, who is really getting a chance to grow as a performer by playing a comedian. According to Deadline, his character Henderson will reportedly be a “designer-hoodie, black Ray-Bans, expensive sneakers-wearing famous comedian with a ‘hard-life-lessons man-of-the-people’ thing working for him.” No idea how many designer hoodies D’Elia owns in real life, but it’s possible he supplies some of his own wardrobe. Of course, given the history of what happens to confident and brash men Joe comes into contact with on You, this description doesn’t exactly bode well for Henderson’s mortality.
