Chris Hardwick now has his own festival, giving him another reason for after-shows
Chris Hardwick is everywhere these days, giving points to riffing comedians on @Midnight, and gushing over AMC’s whole lineup, it seems. But Silicon Valley has remained surprisingly bereft of Hardwick’s presence, a fact that the actor, comedian, and talking-gun-for-hire is remedying with a two-day event that’s part con, part music fest, part comedy fest, and all Hardwick. The Id1ot Music Festival & Comic Conival was announced via press release today, and it boasts a whole weekend of panels, cosplay, comedy, and live music—it’s a veritable smorgasbord of pop culture. (For that matter, so is The A.V. Club, but we don’t have corn dogs for sale.)
The Id1ot Festival will host comedians like Demetri Martin, Michael Che, Nikki Glaser, Garfunkel and Oates, Michael Ian Black, Brian Posehn, Hampton Yount, Matt Braunger, Yassir Lester (who you can currently catch on Making History), and more. You can look for comics from companies like Skybound, Valiant, Oni, Boom! Studios, Top Shelf, AfterShock, Insight Editions, Aspen, and HowToons. Artists like Cameron Stewart, Babs Tarr, Becky Cloonan, Andrew Robinson, Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera, Jason Shawn Alexander, Gerry Duggan, Phil Noto, Nick Dragotta, and more will also be on hand. But wait, there’s even more—Id1ot attendees will also catch live performances by Weezer, Girl Talk, Lord Huron, Crystal Castles, TV On The Radio, OK Go, Animal Collective, Car Seat Headrest, The Mowglis, Robert DeLong, Mothers, Ron Gallo, and, yes, more TBD.
The festival will run from June 24-25, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre and grounds in Silicon Valley. VIP and general admission tickets go on sale Friday.
