Chris Hemsworth is also making a Hank Williams movie

As spring follows winter, and pride comes before the fall, so battles between Norse gods must inevitably give way to honky-tonk blues. It’s a well-known maxim, most recently proven true by the news that Chris Hemsworth, following in the footsteps of his Marvel Cinematic Universe brother Tom Hiddleston, is also making a movie about country music star Hank Williams.

Hemsworth has optioned the film rights to I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive, Steve Earle’s dark novel about an unlicensed doctor haunted by Williams’ ghost. So presumably it’ll be a little less faithful than Hiddleston’s upcoming I Saw The Light, a more traditional biopic of the famously talented (and troubled) musician. Still, that’s no reason the two movies can’t develop a bitter-yet-loving rivalry, sure to keep the two battlingand the fans swooningfor as long as the old gods hold sway over the earth, as long ago prophesied by the wise and mysterious Norns.

On the other hand, both Hemsworth and Hiddleston are making, like, a thousand movies apiece next year, so all of that destiny and fate stuff might be bullshit, and this is just the law of averages playing out.
