Despite rampant speculation that Simon Cowell’s seat on American Idol could go to someone like Donald Trump or Bret Michaels (speculation that came entirely from Donald Trump and Bret Michaels) producers are said to be zeroing in on pomade-slicked pop star Chris Isaak to join the panel. Rumors that Isaak might take over Cowell’s spot grew louder this week after it was revealed that he had already met with the network twice, which would seem to indicate that he’s a frontrunner over other candidates like Harry Connick Jr. Isaak, of course, is no stranger to television, having starred in his own Showtime sitcom and, most recently, hosted the variety show The Chris Isaak Hour. Unfortunately, he also seems like a really nice guy; doesn't that show need an asshole?
