Chris Pine to be latest actor to take on then leave role of Jack Ryan?

Variety has a report that Star Trek star Chris Pine is in discussions to play Tom Clancy's superspy hero Jack Ryan in a new film. Details remain sketchy with no word as to which Clancy film is up to be adapted, but Pine would be a part of a dubious legacy that's seen the franchise booted and rebooted several times. Alec Baldwin played Ryan in 1990's The Hunt For Red October. After Baldwin walked away, Harrison Ford took over the part for two movies (Patriot Games and Clear And Present Danger). Then Ben Affleck assumed the role for The Sum Of All Fears in 2002. That didn't work out. No doubt all previous Jack Ryans wish Pine their best.
