Longtime backing musician Chris Staples has played with everybody from Telekinesis to Father John Misty, but now he’s releasing his own LP. American Soft is out Aug. 12 on Barsuk Records, and features a song called “Dark Side Of The Moon” that’s not—thank heaven—a cover of the Pink Floyd track. Below, A.V. Club readers can check out the record’s second single, “Hold On To Something,” an intimate but sonically lush cut that’s reminiscent of tracks by his old touring pals.
