Chrissy Teigen and David Chang team up for Hulu cooking show
Hulu unveiled an absolutely bonkers list of upcoming original series this morning, including new shows from Marvel and renewals for recent faves like Pen15 (a miracle of television) and Ramy. It’s a pretty busy slate, which might have made it easy to overlook this gem, picked up by Variety: Chrissy Teigen and David Chang will combine their awesome powers to host a new cooking show for Hulu and Vox Media Studios. Titled Family Style, the series will feature the two multi-hyphenates exploring “how food fosters familial and social connections.” The show may be the tip of the Teigen-Chang iceberg, as the pair have signed a multi-year, multi-show deal with Hulu to develop new original projects. Chang, the genius behind Momofuku, has already proven to be quite the compelling foodie TV guide with The Mind Of A Chef and Netflix’s Ugly Delicious. It’s unclear what Chang’s new Hulu deal means for the latter, which has only aired one season, though it seems likely it’ll remain a one-off.
Teigen, who also hosts Lip Sync Battle and runs one of the most delightful Twitter accounts, is no novice when it comes to family cooking: She’s published two cookbooks, including the recent Cravings: Hungry For More, a follow-up to 2016's Cravings. It’s about time that Hulu upped their food game, and getting in the David Chang business is the perfect way to start. Hopefully that multi-show deal will include a series hosted by Milk Bar chef Christina Tosi.
