Christian Bale might play Dick Cheney for Adam McKay

It sounds like Adam McKay might be keeping his The Big Short team together for his next politically infused project, with Variety reporting that Christian Bale and Steve Carell are both in talks to star in McKay’s still untitled biopic of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Bale would play the Wyoming face-shooter himself, forcing us to wonder what sorts of method-acting techniques—Face-scrunching? Laser-assisted soul blackening?—he might employ to get into the character.

Meanwhile, Amy Adams is in talks to play Lynne Cheney, and Carell would play the VP’s Bush White House crony, Donald Rumsfeld. McKay announced the project last November, shortly after the election of Donald Trump, apparently in a bid to capitalize on this brief period when the Bush-Cheney administration could honestly be viewed as a source of pleasant nostalgia, at least in comparison to the present regime.
