Christian Slater thinks Mr. Robot will be powering down pretty soon
Mr. Robot has been a landmark show at USA, a network once associated largely with Wings reruns and Duckman, and which can now boast at least one of the better regarded TV dramas of the last few years. But that era might soon be coming to an end, at least according to star Christian Slater. According to The Wrap, Slater—who’s enjoyed his own little TV renaissance as the title character, the anarchic foil to Rami Malek’s semi-heroic hacker Elliot—has said that he thinks the show’s upcoming fourth season will be its last.
“Yeah, Season 4, and I believe that will be the last season,” Slater recently said in an interview with Collider. “Sam [Esmail] always said it was going to be somewhere in that zone, and he didn’t want to go further than what he could creatively contribute to that storyline.” Honestly, that seems kind of fitting; the last season of the show ended with Elliot and Robot coming to some kind of detente at last, and seemed to be moving all of the show’s players into position for their final big moves. At least we have a sense that Esmail—who created the series—knows what his end goal is, regardless of how much USA might hope he’d continue.
