Last month, Christina Hendricks signed on to Dark Places (the other Gillian Flynn adaptation in the works), as a stripper with a secret past. But just before shooting, Samantha Morton dropped out of the film, so Hendricks was moved into the role Morton vacated.
Hendricks will now be playing the fully clothed mother of Charlize Theron's character. While we certainly wouldn't put it past Hollywood to cast an actress as the mother of another actress who's only three months younger than she is, Hendricks will appear in flashbacks, as her character's murder is one of the story's central mysteries.
No word yet as to who will replace Hendricks in the stripper role, but as the film is already shooting, expect them to figure it out soon.
