Christina Hendricks joins Comedy Central’s Another Period
Christina Hendricks, having finally broken free from playing a woman trapped in an era that treated her like an object, has signed on to Comedy Central’s new past-based reality spoof Another Period as a “mysterious servant” named Chair. It’s not clear whether the character, who is described as having “her own arc,” is named after a chair, or employed as a chair, or what, but we’ve been assured that the character is “not who she appears to be.” So she’s probably a sentient, talking chair.
The series, which is co-produced by Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Productions and executive produced by stars Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, is described as a reality TV spoof following the lives of a family of rich idiots at the turn of the 20th century. The show’s cast is full of ringers from the Los Angeles comedy scene, including Michael Ian Black, The Thrilling Adventure Hour’s Paget Brewster, and Veep’s Brian Huskey, although it remains to be seen how many of them will be playing furniture.
