Christopher Lloyd’s going to The Big Bang Theory, still doesn’t need roads

According to Variety, Christopher Lloyd has signed on for what will surely be another one of his delightfully self-referential TV cameos. He was on Spin City opposite Michael J. Fox way back in the day, he’ll be appearing on Syfy’s time travel show 12 Monkeys later this year, and now he’s going to be making a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory. The show’s executive producers say he’ll be playing “a fun part that fans will really enjoy,” but beyond that we don’t know much of anything about it.

Considering Big Bang Theory’s fondness for showcasing nerdy stuff in pretty obvious ways, though, we imagine the character will be somewhere between “basically Doc Brown” and “literally Doc Brown.” He might say something about roads, he might actually say the phrase “back to the future,” and he might even show up at the gang’s apartment in a flying train piloted by Mary Steenburgen. Either way, we won’t have to wait long for this mystery to be solved. Variety says Lloyd’s episode of The Big Bang Theory will air on CBS on December 1.
