Christopher Nolan reportedly wants Matthew McConaughey to be his space-travel buddy

The shrugging off of the Kate Hudson-shaped albatross that is Matthew McConaughey’s recent career resurgence may continue with a leading role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, according to a new report at Deadline. “While there is no deal yet, who says no to Nolan?” the site writes, ignoring the many times Leonardo DiCaprio has turned down Nolan’s offers to “share outfits…like sisters!” but rightfully suggesting McConaughey could well prove amenable to working with Hollywood’s most commercially popular and cultishly adored director. Should he accept, he’ll star in the previously reported space-and-time-travel film based on the work of Caltech physicist Kip Thorne—“a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding,” made all the more comprehensible to the layman when it’s delivered in McConaughey’s laidback drawl. McConaughey, of course, has previous experience with interstellar voyages thanks to Contact, and he’s even well-versed in relativity, as seen in his postulated theory of high-school girls.
