Cinemax orders a new animated series from Mike Judge

It’s been almost seven years since Mike Judge’s King Of The Hill went off the air, and though Silicon Valley (which Judge co-created) has been a reliable venue for comedy for the last few years, there’s still nothing quite like an old-fashioned Mike Judge animated series—aside from The Goode Family, which should just continue to be forgotten. Luckily, it seems like Cinemax has also been hungry for another Mike Judge cartoon, because Deadline is reporting that it has just picked up eight episodes of Mike Judge Presents: Tales From The Tour Bus, a half-hour comedy series that “chronicles the tales of some of country music’s most eccentric characters.”

It’s unclear if that means it will literally be animated versions of stories told by actual eccentric characters from the world of country music, but King Of The Hill did pull some good laughs out of cameos from real-life country music stars a few times. Either way, Tales From The Tour Bus will be Cinemax’s first original comedy series, and it’s set to premiere later this year.
