Cinepocalypse to screen R-rated "gore cut" of '90s-era kid flick Tammy And The T-Rex
Chicago’s Cinepocalypse film festival got our attention by revealing Joel Schumacher and GWAR would be on hand for screenings of Falling Down, Flatliners, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare. Now, the genre festival has scored another huge get in Misfits’ Glenn Danzig, who will drop in to debut his new horror anthology, Verotika, a “realization of his lifelong love of comics and the dark arts” that might also be a “vampire spaghetti Western.”
Verotika will open the festival, but we’ll be sticking around for some of the week’s other curiosities, which include a 4K restoration of David Naughton’s super-horny Hot Dog…The Movie—co-hosted by our own Katie Rife—and a never-before-seen R-rated cut of Tammy And The T-Rex, a very real ‘90s-era movie from the guy who made the atrocious Mac And Me. Denise Richards, Paul Walker, and Weekend At Bernie’s corpse Terry Kiser star in the “gore cut,” which will screen for the first time ever in 35mm.
Also of note is Cinepocalypse’s focus on female genre filmmakers. The festival will highlight Gigi Saul Guerrero’s Culture Shock, Chelsea Stardust’s Satanic Panic, Caryn Warchter’s Deadcon, Pollyanna McIntosh’s SXSW hit Darlin’, and Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala’s Sundance breakout The Lodge, which just received a new trailer earlier today.
If that’s not enough, journeyman character actor Michael Ironside will “see you at the party” that is the festival’s 70mm screening of Total Recall. Afterwards, Ironside, also of Scanners and Starship Troopers, will accept the festival’s achievement award.
