Claire Danes confirms that Homeland will end after season 8

As initially teased way back in 2016, it looks like Homeland will really be coming to an end after one more season. That’s according to star Claire Danes, who would know better than anyone, as she recently appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show and confirmed that the show’s eighth season will be its last. Danes said she’s “conflicted” about the show coming to an end, but noted that “this Carrie-freakin’ Mathison character” is “a lot” and that “it’s a workout” to be constantly under duress like Carrie is on the show. Danes also told Stern that she’s pregnant, but Deadline doesn’t think it should impact the production of the final season as it probably won’t begin filming until next year. Also, it’s worth noting that Showtime itself hasn’t confirmed this, but Deadline believes that the core cast’s contracts are all up after season eight, so if the show does continue it will either have some new faces or some beefier paychecks for Danes and Mandy Patinkin.

Homeland will be wrapping up its seventh—and penultimate—season at the end of this month.
