CMT may revive Last Man Standing
CMT may answer the cries of those dedicated Last Man Standing stans who were outraged by the cancellation of Tim Allen’s ABC sitcom. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network, which previously saved ABC’s Nashville, is starting discussions about potentially reviving the series. However, THR cautions that the process is still in very early stages, and the show may eventually prove too expensive for Country Music Television.
After the series—which, mind you, had a relatively long life in the scheme of things—got the boot, a petition began circulating arguing for a boycott of ABC and praising the show for being one “that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values.” During the upfronts, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said that Allen’s politics had nothing to do with the decision to end it, which was purely a scheduling choice.
