CNN boots Kathy Griffin over decapitated Trump photo
Kathy Griffin may have been deliberately courting controversy with her recent photo shoot holding the bloody, decapitated fake head of Donald Trump, but she probably didn’t see this one coming. Or maybe she did, in which case her commitment to quitting her job in the most roundabout way possible is impressive. Weird, but impressive. Either way, she’s out as co-host for CNN’s New Years Eve festivities, according to Deadline. The network announced the move on Twitter earlier today, after saying it was “evaluating” the situation yesterday afternoon.
Griffin has served as host for CNN’s New Years’ coverage alongside Anderson Cooper since 2007. Over those 10 years, she managed to both say “fucking” on live TV and tell an offscreen heckler, “I don’t go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth,” so all in all it was a pretty good run.
