CNN’s crossbreeding experiment between Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker has been deemed a failure, with the network announcing today that Parker will leave the low-rated primetime program Parker Spitzer to concentrate on her writing and not talking to Eliot Spitzer. Beginning this Monday, the show will be rechristened In The Arena, and—rather than try to find another person who can match the duo’s fizzy, first-season-of-Moonlighting chemistry—will feature Spitzer hosting a rotating ensemble of “newsmakers, guests, and contributors” going “beyond the headlines” and beating each other to death with truncheons.
