Coheed And Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez announces Mark Wahlberg-backed feature film

In further news coming out of Comic-Con, where every comic series is now the next potential blockbuster, Coheed And Cambria lead singer and guitarist Claudio Sanchez has announced that he is working on a feature-film adaptation of The Amory Wars, the dystopic graphic novel series created by Sanchez to serve as the basis and inspiration for Coheed And Cambria’s otherwise pretty cryptic concept album storylines. The project sees Sanchez partnering with Wahlberg and Leverage Pictures, the studio behind Entourage and Boardwalk Empire, to tell the story of a couple named Coheed and Cambria and their attempt to oust a superhuman dictator named Wilhelm Ryan (all while presumably still finding time to write intricate prog-rock).

But even the announcement of a movie deal hasn't stopped Sanchez from returning to his day job: The band recently announced a summer tour playing a series of shows with veteran purveyors of epic heavy metal Iron Maiden. The tour starts on July 24 in Winnipeg, taking the two bands across the Western United States before they part ways in Texas. In addition to the tour, the band is planning a new album release sometime in the fall.
