Comedians remember Harris Wittels on the one-year anniversary of his death

One year ago today, the comedy world lost an icon as Harris Wittels, beloved writer, podcaster, and stand-up, died of a heroin overdose. Today, a number of his pals are remembering him online, retweeting some of his funniest jokes, sharing old photos and stories, and just generally honoring his memory.

While Splitsider has an interesting and quite lengthy piece up detailing Wittels’ heart-wrenching final appearance on You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, other members of Wittels’ inner circle are choosing to pay tribute to him using their social media. Kulap Vilaysack, host of Who Charted and producer of the upcoming Bajillion Dollar Properties on Seeso, posted several pictures of Wittels on her Instagram, including this photo of her and Wittels having dinner alongside Scott Aukerman, Casey Wilson, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Peretti, and other pals.

Speaking of Silverman, the comedian and actress posted two pictures of her with Wittels, including this one, which she captioned “I miss our friend Harris.”

Aziz Ansari posted a number of things about Wittels to Twitter, including several pieces he wrote about the comedian and writer over the past year:

Joe Mande posted this video of Wittels playing a slow acoustic version of “Gangnam Style,” just because.

Other remembrances are below, as is a playlist of Wittels’ famous “Foam Corner” appearances on Comedy Bang! Bang!, a segment that should both befuddle those unfamiliar with Wittels’ work and draw a tear from those who are.
