Comedy Central cancels Another Period

Dismaying fans of trashy reality shows and historical intrigue alike, co-creator Natasha Leggero announced tonight that Comedy Central has decided not to pick up a fourth season of Another Period. The series—which was co-created by Riki Lindhome, who, with Leggero, played a pair of psychotically selfish sisters conniving for attention and cash—was one of the quiet, consistent delights of the network’s schedule, starting with a high-concept premise (“What if Keeping Up With The Kardashians was set in Downton Abbey?) and then expanding it into a universe of bizarre characters and historical in-jokes.

It also had a cast of comedy pros that bordered on ridiculous; beyond Leggero and Lindhome, the series boasted regular performances from Donna Lynne Champlin, Paget Brewster, David Koechner, Michael Ian Black, and more, to say nothing of the wide variety of State and Comedy Bang Bang-adjacent stars who stopped by for single episode stints as screwed up versions of various historical figures.

This is the second cult-favorite, personality-driven sitcom series Comedy Central has given the boot to this week, after canceling Detroiters on Tuesday. Leggero announced the news via Instagram.
