Comedy Central cancels Not Safe With Nikki Glaser
Comedy Central’s safeword is apparently “canceled,” with news coming tonight that the network has tapped out on its sex-themed talk show Not Safe With Nikki Glaser. Deadline reports that self-described “curious pervert” Glaser will now be forced to retire her sex-positive talk show’s signature bits, which included messing with guys on Tinder, giving sex talks to adorable animals, and hooking her parents up to lie detectors and asking them about their intimate lives.
Glaser previously hosted some of those same gags on her earlier talk show, MTV’s Nikki & Sara Live, with fellow comedian Sara Schaefer. She also gained prominence with regular appearances on @midnight and Inside Amy Schumer, leading Comedy Central to pick Not Safe up for a single 20-episode season that started back in February and concluded on August 9. Guests on the series included well-known comics like Patton Oswalt and Maria Bamford, as well as writers like Savage Love’s Dan Savage, with topics hitting not just the humorous side of human sexuality, but also serious subjects like rape, and the ways American society tries to silence women who try to report it.
