Comedy Central debuts new logo designed for mirth-making of the future

In the spirit of similarly minimalist redesigns for Gap and the Democratic Party, Comedy Central unveiled its first logo upgrade in a decade via the just-released promo seen below. The familiar planet topped with bowed skyscrapers—so wacky in their architectural unsoundness—has been replaced by the stark minimalism of the above copyright-symbol-with-an-anus, which is stamped decisively over the no-nonsense deployment of the word “COMEDY” followed by an upside-down “CENTRAL”—the disparity between their respective placement communicating the conflict that is inherent to all forms of humor. Mankind, gaze upon the laughter dispensary of the future, where your reruns of Just Friends are delivered efficiently and without superfluity.
