Having temporarily exhausted its store of Nerdist-related properties, Comedy Central is turning to Twitter for its next project: a pilot based on the popular @DadBoner feed, chronicling the fictional adventures of Midwestern Renaissance man Karl Welzein and his love of cheeseburgers piled high, gettin’ blitzed on domestic brews, and Bob Seger jams. While some would say that @DadBoner already has a show, and it’s called Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, this series differs in that it will star an actual cartoon.
The feed’s creator, comedian Mike Burns, will co-write with Tim Long an animated series based on shit his @DadBoner says, as collected in the book, Power Moves: Livin’ The American Dream, USA Style. As there, the show will follow Karl as he crashes with his buddy Dave in the wake of his divorce, spending each day determined to squeeze the nacho cheese sauce out of life. Time for a celebraish.
