Comedy Central picks up the Amy Poehler-produced Broad City, about broads in the city

As part of its effort to collect all the comedy, stockpiling it in a central place, Comedy Central has picked up 10 episodes of the Amy Poehler-produced Broad City, about a couple of broads in the city. Based on the web series from Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, the show follows two “BFFs exploring life, love, and lipstick in the Big Apple”—a description that is only slightly tongue-in-cheek and definitely well-trodden territory. You’ll just have to take Amy Poehler’s word for it that these broads have something special. (She's earned it.) The show, originally set up at FX, is now slated to debut on Comedy Central sometime in 2014, with network president Kent Alterman saying, “Finally, there’s a television show set in New York City” so you can’t make that joke now. Hopefully look for a 2015 crossover episode with our own in-development series, Lummox Island.
