Comedy Central renews @midnight
Comedy Central has renewed @midnight for a third season, guaranteeing another year of Chris Hardwick yelling and staring directly at the camera. Hardwick’s social media game show, which brings in a new lineup of comedians every episode, debuted on Comedy Central in the fall of 2013; once Jon Stewart departs The Daily Show, Hardwick will have the longest tenure of any of the network’s current late-night hosts. (If this were an episode of his show, he would now appear from nowhere and shout “POINTS” at you.)
“Creating a new franchise in late night is no small feat, and we couldn’t be more proud of Chris and the entire team for what they’ve accomplished,” Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s president of content development and original programming, says. In a statement, the network also noted that @midnight reaches the youngest and most male audience of any late night talk show, with an audience that’s 68 percent male and a median viewer age of 33.
