Comedy Central renews Tosh.0, Drunk History; extends Not Safe With Nikki Glaser
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central has just renewed Tosh.0 and Drunk History, as well as a couple of digital series. The news, which comes months after the network picked up Another Period for a second season, ensures that the country’s drunken, meme-driven history will continue to be recorded for posterity (DVRs will probably have a lot more memory in the future).
The renewal makes for a ninth season of Daniel Tosh smirking in front of a screen featuring the latest viral stunt, presumably to the delight of Comedy Central viewers—the show averages “1.7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49.” Gary Sanchez Productions’ Drunk History will return for a fourth season of inebriated recollections and inaccurate reenactments of key moments in history; the seasons have gotten progressively longer, with 13 episodes comprising last season, so let’s hope that trend continues. And speaking of extensions, Comedy Central’s added 10 more episodes to the debut season of Not Safe With Nikki Glaser, which should afford the comedian with plenty more opportunities to weigh in on the presidential race, among other things.
Comedy Central also picked up Ari Shaffir’s This Is Not Happening for a third season, as well as the digital series Alternatino (starring Broad City’s Arturo Castro), Nothin’s Easy and Questionable Science. Comedy Central is expected to reveal more of its spring look later this week in its upfronts presentation, which will hopefully tell us when we can expect to catch that abbreviated, final season of Review.
