Comedy Central to continue revitalization of Detroiters with a second season
Detroiters, Comedy Central’s freewheeling, affectionate ode to the Motor City as seen through the eyes of low-rent ad men and best friends Sam (Sam Richardson) and Tim (Tim Robinson), has been renewed for a second season, according to a press release from the network. In his review of the show, our own William Hughes says that Richardson and Robinson, longtime improv partners and real-life pals, “[operate] at a certain level of anything-goes absurdism,” but the show “never treats its two leads’ brotherly love for each other as a possible butt of the joke.”
Comedy Central president Kent Alterman keeps the good vibes going in a statement, saying, “Sam and Tim’s sweet, goofy friendship is so infectious, we’ve noticed people being nicer to each other. Perhaps we’ll set season two in D.C.” That doesn’t sound quite as appealing—nice guys are about as rare as Stroh’s in our nation’s capital—but maybe things will change by the time Detroiters season two airs next year. (Yeah, right.)
Detroiters season one is currently airing Tuesday nights at 10:30 ET/9:30 CT on Comedy Central.
