Comedy-sports hybrid Rob Riggle to host comedy-sports late-night show

Rob Riggle—the human intersection between the disparate worlds of comedy and sports—has finally secured an official platform from which to foist his kicking and quipping alchemy onto the world. TBS has announced the creation of Rob Riggle’s Sportsbook, a weekly late night show in which the former Saturday Night Live and Daily Show performer will break down the week’s best tackle passes and punt-fights, while also aiming a healthy stream of mockery at the world of 24-hour sports news reporting.

Riggle currently has a regular gig doing this kind of thing as part of Fox NFL Sunday, where he offers up a mixture of sketch comedy and sports prognostication on “Riggle’s Picks.” Meanwhile, this is the third time this year that TBS has snatched up a former Jon Stewart sidekick to fill out its late-night schedule: Full Frontal With Samantha Bee debuted back in February to strong reviews, while Jason Jones’ The Detour started up in April. Both have already been renewed.
