Coming this year to Sundance: James Murphy stars in LCD Soundsystem documentary, Tim & Eric movie
James Murphy might have retired LCD Soundsystem, but the man remains as busy as ever, particularly when it comes to movies. At the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, Murphy's unshaven mug will appear in two films, playing himself in the documentary SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS and "an aging hipster" (aka himself) in the comedy The Comedy. SHUT UP AND PLAY follows Murphy during the night of LCD Soundsystem's final show at Madison Square Garden, and the following morning; it is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace and will screen as part of Sundance's non-compeition "Spotlight" category.
As previously reported, The Comedy co-stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Warheim (of Tim & Eric fame) and is about a guy (Heidecker) who hangs out "with a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters, engaging in acts of recreational cruelty and pacified boredom." As if that would ever happen in real life. [via Pitchfork]
