Community casts Britta’s parents (in the study room, with the candlestick)

Entertainment Weekly reports (and ScreenCrush corroborates) that Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren will appear in Community’s sixth season as the AT&T of parents, Britta’s mom and dad. The casting reunites Mull and Warren, who previously co-starred in the 1985 cult favorite Clue, as well as a positively Community-esque episode-length homage to that film from Psych’s seventh season. There’s no indication that this episode (co-directed by the Way Way Back duo of Jim “Dean of Oscar winners” Rash and Nat “Really, that Descendants Oscar win should’ve kept Ben And Kate on the air” Faxon) will also be a tribute to cinema’s finest board-game adaptation—but there’s no indication that it won’t be, either. That’s just the type of trick to pull in Community’s riff on the drawing-room whodunit, one that would further obscure the memory of the gas-leak year’s real-time Christmas salute to Rope. And while The A.V. Club doesn’t want to facilitate baseless speculation on the matter, it should be pointed out that recently added sixth-season player Paget Brewster would do pretty well in Madeline Kahn’s Clue role. (Has anyone ever heard Brewster say the words “Flames on the side of my face”?)

Community’s sixth season is currently set for a “winter 2015” premiere on Yahoo! Screen, though the guessing game surrounding its exact premiere is getting to the point where someone is bound to pry open that little “Confidential” envelope and spill the details for all to hear.
