Conan O'Brien to host White House Correspondents dinner, so maybe consider going this year

In news that will probably factor greatly into your decision regarding whether to attend, the White House Correspondents’ Association has revealed that Conan O’Brien will host this year’s dinner, which might also have crabcakes. So, you know, even if you don’t like Conan but you like crabcakes, it might still be worth going, just to get some of those crabcakes. This is actually the second time Conan has been put in charge of the annual feast where everyone in D.C. and also some random people from sitcoms take a break from arguing to gently roast each other with mildly political zingers, his first being in 1995. You can check out footage of that below, in which a heartbreakingly young and fragile Conan—just over a year into hosting Late Night—is tasked with making fun of the Bill Clinton administration and, of course, Judge Ito. Fortunately for Conan, there’s a lot more comedic material to be mined from an era when everything seems kind of awful.
