Conan took his dangerously pale skin Down Under
On the latest installment of Conan Without Borders, the ginger-topped late-night host took his one-man traveling circus across the globe and Down Under. In Australia, he did his best to blend in with the locals by learning some Aussie slang and, more importantly, unlearning everything he’d gleaned from Foster’s Lager commercials.
While his accent leaves a little something to be desired, a dialect filled with cartoonish euphemisms and funny nicknames seems like it should be Conan’s native tongue. There’s no time to congratulate himself for mastering the language so quickly, however, as it’s time to hit the beach and venture out into the Australian bush. Only, of course, after procuring the right clothing and copious amounts of sunblock.
Finally, Conan rounded out his trip with a live performance at Sydney’s State Theatre, which featured a handful of local comedians, some Australia-specific crowd-work, and a stirring rendition of “Skippy The Bush Kangaroo.” All in all, it was a whirlwind, hilarious tour, and serves as further proof that Conan is, sometimes, at his best when he’s outside the studio.
