Congress to hold hip-hop hearings
Legislators, folks who know nothing about attracting attention to themselves with obnoxious, childish messages, will convene later this month and discuss things they don't like about hip-hop. The hearings are tentatively titled "From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degradation," and will focus on misogyny. Will we get to hear Senators awkwardly reading off rap lyrics and refining their hip-hop slang? Well, first they have to decide who to haul up there to take the blame—higher execs, lower-ranking A&R; people, artists themselves? And will someone please sneak a copy of Iraq In Fragments or something into Congress' stack of hip-hop videos? Who knows—maybe some Three 6 Mafia will help these people rediscover their balls and do their real jobs. (Variety)
