Connie Britton signs on for American Crime Story

In what is either a smart career move or a continuation of her character’s storyline from the first season of American Horror Story, Variety reports that Connie Britton will continue to haunt the hallucinatory murder house of Ryan Murphy’s imagination with a role on American Crime Story.

American Crime Story—not to be confused with American Crime—is just one of several projects Murphy is developing for TV at the moment. The first season will tell the tale of the O.J. Simpson trial, presenting the intriguing possibility of a Judge Ito musical dream sequence. Britton joins a cast that already includes Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, David Schwimmer as lead defense attorney Robert Kardashian, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, and John Travolta, who will pay Simpson defense attorney Robert Shapiro.

Britton is set to play Faye Resnick, an admitted cocaine addict and three-time divorcee who also happened to be a close friend of Nicole Brown Simpson. After testifying in the O.J. Simpson trial, Resnick capitalized on the fame she gained from her friend getting murdered by posting for Playboy and co-writing two sensational true-crime books about the trial, like you do. Resnick was last seen trying (unsuccessfully) to be promoted to series regular on Bravo’s Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills.
