Conrad Murray sentenced to four years in prison

The doctor convicted three weeks ago for recklessly using a strong surgical anesthetic to help Michael Jackson sleep was sentenced to four years in prison today. Conrad Murray received the maximum sentence for his role in Jackson's death, and was described as "dangerous" by Judge Michael Pastor. It was revealed during Murray's trial that he administered the anesthetic propofol almost every night for two months before Jackson died. The district attorney also asked for Murray to pay more than $100 million—the projected earnings of Jackson's "This Is It" tour—to the singer's children. [via CNN]
