Converse wants you to know what a team-up between Matt & Kim, Soulja Boy, and Andrew W.K. sounds like
The third, strangest song in Converse’s Three Artists, One Song series made its way to the Internet today, and if the party-prone combination of Matt & Kim, Soulja Boy, and Andrew W.K. can’t come up with a brighter anthem for summer 2011 than “I’m A Goner,” then it’s probably time to start looking into speeding along the autumnal equinox. You wouldn’t expect the musicians responsible for “Daylight,” “Crank That,” and “Party Hard” to turn in a hollow, downtempo number that’s apparently sung from beyond the grave—but then you wouldn’t expect a shoe manufacturer to continue bankrolling one-off singles in this economy, either. On the bright side, Memphis-based garage label Goner Records now has a free theme song to make its own, just as Stiff Records did with Devo’s “Be Stiff” in the 1970s. The A.V. Club eagerly awaits the arrival of “I’m A Goner”’s many, psyched-out and roughed-up offspring.
