Cookie Monster sings Tom Waits, obviously

There’s something to be said for a simple concept executed well, as in the case of this video of Cookie Monster singing Tom Waits’ “God’s Away On Business.” Mashing up footage of Sesame Street's resident baked-goods aficionado with “cookie-monster vocals” is nothing new, though the inspiration generally pulls from death–metal growling rather than the guttural songs of Waits. But few such mash-ups are as well-synced as this effort, almost leading you to forget that Cookie Monster didn't originally sing this song. Judging by the name of the YouTube user who created this video, cookiewaits, there’s probably more to come in this vein… the new “Bad As Me” perhaps?
