HBO intends to give the royal wedding the Cord And Tish treatment

In what’s either a sterling testament to people’s demand for semi-cutting parodies of chipperly arrogant local news celebrities—or maybe just Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon’s continued delight at getting to professionally goof around together—HBO has announced that it’s bringing back the duo’s comedy commentators Cord and Tish for another go-around. This time, the pair—who previously oversaw Amazon’s live Rose Parade coverage, back on New Year’s Day—will be hopping across the pond to apply their same brand of blithely comedic obliviousness to the upcoming royal nuptials.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, HBO announced today that it’ll play host to The Royal Wedding Live With Cord And Tish!, which, owing to time zones, will initially air live at 7:30 a.m. Eastern on May 19, with a primetime re-broadcast scheduled for later that night. The special will, of course, feature the commentary skills of parade enthusiasts Cord Hosenbeck (Ferrell) and Tish Cortigan (Shannon), two endlessly cheerful morons who would never let not knowing about a thing stop them from endlessly talking about it.

As with the first Cord And Tish special, the whole thing is being produced by Funny Or Die, with Shannon and Ferrell’s old pal Tim Meadows on-hand to provide some extra guest commentary. “This wedding is going to be a blast,” Ferrell commented in-character. “There will be more luxury packed into that church than all the Bed, Bath & Beyonds combined.” “Every little girl dreams of growing up and marrying a prince!” Shannon added. “Now I get to be front-row center of this fairytale romance. I’ll be crying all day!”
