Corey Stoll moves from House Of Cards to FX's The Strain, contends with a whole new type of parasite

Corey Stoll, who made such an impact as a self-destructive, self-indulgent congressman in House Of Cards, has been picked as the lead in FX’s new vampire drama The Strain, moving from politics to a slightly less malicious form of bloodsucking, right folks? Politics, am I right? Anyway, as previously reported, the Carlton Cuse co-produced The Strain is one of Guillermo del Toro’s many projects in some stage of development, an adaptation of his novel series with Chuck Hogan about a parasitic virus that transforms ordinary people into extraordinarily pale people—people who feed on other people, all while spraying ammonia out of their asses. Stoll will play the protagonist, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, whose name is somehow even more amusing than the idea of the man who so nobly embodied Ernest Hemingway in Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris contending with giant vampire skunks.
