Corin Tucker and Peter Buck team for album and tour as Filthy Friends
Corin Tucker of Sleater Kinney fame and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck have been collaborating together for years now. Today, however, Kill Rock Stars officially announced the release date of their first album as Filthy Friends. Invitation is arriving August 25. Appropriately, the new single is called “The Arrival.”
Kill Rock Stars’ website jokingly calls Filthy Friends “a David Bowie cover band, OR they are Corin Tucker, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Kurt Bloch, Bill Rieflin and occasionally Krist Novoselic OR they are unemployed rodeo clowns from Ringling Bros. circus.” However, an interview in Rolling Stone highlights that they are serious about activism in addition to making music. You can catch them on a small tour beginning in August.
