Cory Branan breaks out the heartstrings on “Missing You Fierce”
Rootsy singer-songwriter Cory Branan’s upcoming album, The No-Hit Wonder, features a huge roster of guest musicians including Jason Isbell, Caitlin Rose, Austin Lucas, Tim Easton, and Craig Finn and Steve Selvidge of The Hold Steady. But on one of the album’s best tracks, “Missing You Fierce”—being debuted here—Branan’s voice alone is driving the song. Which is as it should be; as its title more than implies, the track is a lonesome paean to whiskey-fueled yearning and long-distance heartache.
The No-Hit Wonder will be released August 19 via Bloodshot Records.
