Costello skips CD

Elvis Costello is conducting a little experiment with his new album: It won't come out on CD. Titled Momofuku and due April 22 from Lost Highway, the album will be available–at least in physical form–on vinyl only, with a download code included in the LP. (Of course, many indie labels like Sub Pop and Matador have instituted this vinyl-plus-download model, although they haven't precluded CD versions of the same releases.) Momofuku will presumably be sold as a download, as well, and it's entirely possible that a CD version will be released at a later date.

In other recent Costello news, the songwriter's 1978 classic This Year's Model was reissued on March 4, and he'll open The Police's upcoming U.S. tour starting May 10 in Chicago.
