Count for yourself how many times Alec Baldwin says “Charles” in The Edge

The Edge is a 1997 survival thriller starring Anthony Hopkins as Charles, a billionaire with a perfect memory, and Alec Baldwin, a murderous photographer who is sleeping with Charles’ wife. The name of Hopkins’ character should be a minor detail, but turns out to be a memorable part of the film due to the ludicrous amount of times Baldwin’s character says it out loud. The nearly constant “Charles” that comes out of Baldwin’s mouth is made even weirder by how he over-pronounces it.

To drive the point home, a man named Jon Stevenson edited together a supercut of all the times Baldwin says “Charles” over the course of the film. About halfway though, the word “Charles” actually starts to lose all meeting. It just becomes a sound, devoid of meaning.
