Couples reunite just to break each other up in The Intervention trailer
Clea DuVall reunited with her But I’m A Cheerleader co-stars Natasha Lyonne and Melanie Lynskey for her directorial debut, The Intervention. The indie film gathers a ton of other likable folks—including Ben Schwartz, Alia Shawkat, Cobie Smulders, and Vincent Piazza—for a marriage intervention disguised as a weekend in the country.
Smulders and Piazza play Ruby and Peter, an unhappily married couple whose bickering has gotten the best of their closest friends, who now urge them to go their separate ways. The posh digs will also play host to a May-September romance between Lola (Shawkat) and Jack (Schwartz); a health scare for Annie (Lynskey) and Matt (Jason Ritter); and some kind of falling out or rekindling for DuVall and Lyonne’s characters. DuVall wrote and directed the film, so she could very well be giving Megan and Graham ’shippers some closure.
The Intervention had its world premiere at Sundance in January, and will hit theaters on August 26.
