Courtney Love and Lana Del Rey are going on tour together
At first glance, Lana Del Rey and Courtney Love do not seem like natural tour mates. One is known for distant, dirge-like pop tunes, while the other sings hard-driving rock songs too punk for a properly tuned guitar. Audiences may end up suffering from tone whiplash. Nevertheless, Love will join Del Rey next year for the latter’s “Endless Summer Tour,” although she’ll appear for just under half of the performances.
While they may not be a perfect match musically, Love and Del Rey do have a history. A couple of years ago, Love reminded Del Rey that Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” was about Love’s vagina, and gently chastised the younger singer for not thinking about that during a cover performance. (With Love on hand to lend her insights, those kinds of interpretive missteps are unlikely to surface on tour.) Then, earlier this year, Del Rey publicly lamented the fact that she had not yet died young in the style of Kurt Cobain, a comment that drew the ire of Love’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain. Love didn’t publicly weigh in on that exchange, but it should make for interesting tour bus conversation. The 2015 tour dates are below.
