Courtney Love is becoming an opera singer, sort of
Continuing a natural career arc, Courtney Love has become an opera singer. The Hole singer has joined the cast of Kansas City Choir Boy, a pop opera that premieres January 8 in New York City. Love will play one of the lead roles in the Todd Almond-created musical, with Almond telling the New York Times he cast Love because he’s “always been fascinated with her.” Almond is also the male lead in the play, described as “a theatricalized concept album about explosive young love tested by cruel fate, told in a series of mysterious flashbacks.” Unfortunately (or fortunately), Love won’t be wearing Viking horns or even trying to hit any really high notes, with Almond noting that Kansas City is more a “group of songs that tell a story” than a traditional opera.
